Wine Of The Month

The Wine of the month is the 2017 Late Harvest Reserve.

For this month we have chosen a very special wine, one that isn’t made often. The 2017 Late Harvest Reserve is an intense Vidal dessert wine with honey and citrus flavors. To give this wine its sweet taste, we let the Vidal grapes hang on the vine longer than usual. This can only happen when the conditions are absolutely perfect.

The 2017 Late Harvest Reserve is a truly unique and rare wine so take this opportunity to stock up on this special wine with a 15% discount on two or more bottles. Get them in our online shop or in one of our Tasting Rooms!

Beer Special

Getting ready for Summer? We sure are! Come enjoy the hot days with one of our cool new Selzeritas. Refresh with tropical pineapple or a can of classic lime. Try it this month for only $3.50 in our Alto Pass Tasting Room.

Celebration for Aurelio

With much appreciation and respect, we recognize the retirement of our long-time vineyard manager and close friend to our family. Aurelio has been with us for 20 years and in his early years, he worked alongside our patriarch Guy Renzaglia. After retirement in December, Aurelio has come back part time to supervise vineyard activities. On April 24th we gathered to celebrate his outstanding service and unparalleled work as a renowned viticulturist in our region. Everyone in the family and on staff expressed their gratitude and warm regards for him. We tipped our glasses as we toasted him with thanks for a fulfilling and happy retirement.

Guy Renzaglia Lecture

As many of you may know, Guy Renzaglia is not only the patriarch of Alto Vineyards, but he also started the Rehabilitation Institute at SIU in 1955. On April 12th, 2022, we honored his contribution, by hosting the “Guy Renzaglia Lecture.” The lecture series, co-sponsored by the College of Health and Human Services at SIU, was started in 1978 to recognize excellence in the field of rehabilitation. Nearly 100 professionals and students attended the event. We thank Dean, Dr. Robert Morgan, and Dr. Robert M. Augustine for speaking at the event. In the evening’s closing statements, Dr. Karen Renzaglia expressed “Guy is still with us…his legacy is our love for this community and our belief in each other.”

New Intern

We have the honor and pleasure to introduce you to Izzy, the newest member of the Alto team. As an intern from Artevelde University of Applied Sciences in Belgium, Izzy came to Southern Illinois in January to advance our marketing efforts. She is the vibrant voice behind our social media posts and she has been working non-stop to develop a more modern and engaging website for the business. Although Izzy has only been with us for a few months, we see her as an invaluable and creative member of our Alto family. We will sorely miss her when she returns to Belgium in June to complete her degree.
